A swim-a thon is a fundraiser in which participants earn money for their team by swimming lengths of the pool. Swimmers have a two hour period to swim a maximum of 200 lengths. Participants get pledges from businesses, family, neighbors, etc. prior to swimming while others get pledges per length and collect the money following the Swim-a-thon. Swim-a-thon is the only pledge-for-length swimming program recognized by USA Swimming.
Goals:
1. Raise funds for the team.
a) Training aides and equipment.
b) Competition equipment and Uniforms.
c) Travel.
2. Promote the team.
a) Community Awareness
b) Sponsorships
c) Recruiting
Join us! This event is OPEN TO THE PUBLIC. Please join us to learn about the different swimming programs available right here in Harlem and/or to schedule a tryout. New members are welcomed!
The Redtails swim team was developed to provide inner city youth with a safe, fun, and educational after-school activity through competitive swimming. The Redtails program is designed to develop children (ages 6-18) physically, mentally, and emotionally. Please come and support your local swim team on Saturday, February 18, 2012.

 Parents and swimmers
As you may already know, there was an explosion at the sewage treatment plant beneath Riverbank State Park today. As a result Riverbank was evacuated and remains closed.

There will NOT be practice tomorrow. I will keep you informed and let everyone know about the status of Friday's practice as soon as I find out.
